DireBear

The Monster Bear of the Dark Pines.
The Dire Bear is a nocturnal predatory bear species characterized by it's crook snout, shaggy fur, dark mane, glowing eyes, and prized jet black fur.(Lightened here to show detail) This monstrous bear species is feared for it's great size, ferocity, and vengeful nature, known to track prey over long swaths of land and great amounts of time. The Dire Bear is less intelligent than other bear species, less cautious, and much more driven. Being almost purely carnivorous, the Dire Bear is always on the hunt, using it's superior senses to stalk prey across it's vast territory, killing anything it can to feed it's massive bulk. 
Being a nocturnal predator, the Dire Bear's highly reflective eyes glow red as it hunts in the night; Standing 7' - 9', (With some reaching as large as 13' at the hump) and weighing between 2000 to 4000 lbs, the Dire Bear doesn't rely much on stealth, although agile for it's size, the bear mostly relies on it's size and speed to run down it's prey. Being powerful enough to clear brush and trample trees that it's prey needs to navigate gives it an edge.           
           
Great warriors of the Southern and Eastern Kingdoms slay Dire Bears for fame and glory, cloaks of dire bear hide are well sought after, owned by only the most distinguished of Southern lords.
Most of the time, you'd be lucky to find even the skeletal remains of these hunters, as the Dire Bear is known to crush the entire skeletal structure of it's prey with it's powerful jaws, leaving nought but marrowless shattered pieces.
